Activity: How to analyze your own essay before handing it in -- Step One
1) Create a new google document.
2) Open your Big Economy Essay
3) Copy and paste your thesis and put it at the top of the new document.
4) Copy and paste each red claim and put it below the thesis.
5) Read from top to bottom and see if it ALL MAKES SENSE.
6) Fix if it doesn't.
7) Share and help.

Summative Assessment on Independent Reading
We have taught you the following:
-How understand your character through Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
-How to understand your character through Meyer's-Briggs
-How to identify the theme of the a book by examining the back of the book or reviews
-How to read between the lines to determine meaning
-How to determine theme by looking at the problem your main character having and how they are trying to solve it
-How to read a short excerpt word-by-word and figuring out everything that is not said
Pick three of these to analyze your book -- you may use one of these items twice.

Description: This unit will be broken down into a series of sub-units with their own questions. You will be researching and answering questions that will help you decide whether going to war in Syria is the right thing to do.

Pre-Vocab: authoritarian government, refugee crisis in Syria, militias, Alaouites, sectarian identity, Arab Spring
BBC documentary on the history of Syria (Vocab: nationalist, imperialism)

Geography
Question: What is the history of the geography of the Middle East that might help explain the current conflict?

-Independent research: Where does the country currently have military bases and personnel?
