Learning Target: I can explain how the author uses characterization to develop a theme.

Task: Today, you will be FINISHING AND SUBMITTING an essay explaining how Time O'Brien uses characterization to develop a theme.

Here are the requirements:

1) An anecdotal introduction: Tell a story of a time you changed, then transition into a one sentence description of "The Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong" then give your thesis. SEE THE EXAMPLE HERE.

1) The essay must explain HOW the theme was developed using characterization.

2) Warrants that use the "says, means, matters" formula.

3) AFTER your first body paragraph, all subsequent paragraphs START with a transition that mentions what has been proven. SEE THE EXAMPLE HERE. The example is at the beginning of the THIRD paragraph.
