Overall Learning Target:  I know people in the classroom better; I feel more comfortable talking to more students in the class.

Circle: What's the biggest fish you've ever caught?

Tower Building: Build a tower that is the tallest and most beautiful.  After the tower is built, design a presentation that explain the method the group used to create the tower. The score you receive will be based EQUALLY on height, beauty and name.


Football DBQ

You will be reviewing original source documents about an allegedly great catch made by an Oxford Hills player to determine whether the catch was actually great or not.

Stock Market Game: You will be learning about the stock market this year by actually participating in a virtual stock market.  You will be given $100,000 dollars to purchase stocks with.  First, watch this video. Your task is to do some research into:
1. What is the stock market?
2. How does it work?
3. What is a stock?
4. Why is it important?
5. How do you make money?
6. How do you lose money?
7. What are some tried and true strategies for making money in the market?
8. What are some important events in the history of the stock market?
9. Report out.

Writing About Literature
Learning Target:  I can determine the meaning of a story by examining the author's use of characterization.
We will be write a short essay about the short story "Indian Camp"written by Ernest Hemingway using characterization to show how a theme is developed.
1) Cold call: What are the four elements all paragraphs need?
2) What is a thesis statement that works for the short story? Create a broad category.
3) Brainstorm the "categories" of the the thesis?
4) Find evidence to support your claim.  Cold call to read it.
5) Write evidence.
6) Introduce warrant method: Says, means, matters.
7) Write a new paragraph on your own.
