Learning Target: I can evaluate (for bias and perspective) multiple sources to determine what really happened.

You will be reviewing original source documents about an allegedly great catch made by an Oxford Hills player to determine whether the catch was actually great or not.

1) Introduction to determining bias and why it matters.

4) Honors will complete 3 more paragraphs/CCR 2 more.

5) You will submitting this on Friday when we will write an introduction and a conclusion.

Library: Today we will be going to the library to choose a book for independent reading.  Ms. Lance will give a brief presentation about some current books and then you will have time to look around and find a book to read.

Stock Market Game: Report out

Learning Target:  I can explain how the stock market works and what stocks are.
We will be giving each group a company to research and either recommend to buy or not to buy. 
1) We give you a company: Caterpillar, Netflix, Coca Cola, Alphabet, General Motors, Microsoft, Facebook, AT&T, Nvidia.

2) Answer these questions:

        -What does the company do?

        -What do they own?

        -What is the outlook?

        -What is the current news?

        -Recommendation? Buy? Sell?

3) Group preparation time: Each person will present a pro of con, one person will explain the conclusion.

Writing About Literature

Learning Target:  I can determine the meaning of a story by examining the author's use of characterization.

We will be write a short essay about the short story "The Doctor and the Doctor's Wife"written by Ernest Hemingway using characterization to show how a theme is developed.

1) This story appeared right after "Indian Camp" in a collection of short stories called In Our Time.

2) Read the story -- take notes. What do you notice about the way the characters are portrayed (characterization).  You may notice a pattern from Indian Camp.

3) Write a 4 paragraph "essay" -- thesis, two body paragraphs supporting the thesis, conclusion.
