If you are home:

Reading Literature: Writing
I can determine the meaning of a story by examining the author's use of characterization. I can write about literature using a specific technique of my choosing.
1) Last week, we read "Indian Camp" and wrote using a newer style.
2) Today, you will hammer out a quick traditional analysis paragraph about Hemingway's writing.
3) You'll have 10 minutes to write a claim, evidence, warrant paragraph using transitions and the says, mens, matters format.

Activity: How can you understand yourself and others?
I can explain my personality using the Meyers-Briggs letters.
You took a Meyer's Briggs test last week. We will start with a review of what you letters mean.
1) Understanding E vs. I.
2) Understanding S vs. N.
3) Understanding T vs. F.
4) Understanding J vs. P.

Tower Building: Build a castle that is beautiful, has a name, is impenetrable and has a three sentence back story.  After the castle is built, design a one minute presentation that explain the method the group used to create the castle  The score you receive will be based EQUALLY on beauty, name,  impenetrableness and your process presentation.

I can explain how to invest money in the stock market and how the stock market works.
You will be learning about the stock market this year by actually participating in a virtual stock market.  You will be given $100,000 dollars to purchase stocks with.  First, watch this video. Your task is to do some research into:
1. What is the stock market?
2. How does it work?
3. What is a stock?
4. Why is it important?
5. How do you make money?
6. How do you lose money?
7. What are some tried and true strategies for making money in the market?
8. What are some important events in the history of the stock market?
9. Report out.
