Vocabulary Test: Philosophy, Values, culture, demographics, opportunity cost

Circle: We are about to watch a game between Rumford and Cape Elizabeth. Who do you want to win?
Announcements
-Vocabulary will be combined to a single average soon, make arrangements to make up  any missing vocabulary by next Thursday, 1/12.
-Cast Away essay must be passed in by the end of school Monday.

Writing: Write one paragraph explaining who you want to win and why.

Writing: Write one paragraph explaining one reason the you are selecting the town that you have. [Period 5 & 6 quote review for notes]

Unit: Rumford or Cape? The Rivals
Research: We will be watching the documentary "The Rivals" to understand the culture of the two communities.
1) Watch
2) Make notes an things that you see that give evidence on why either place is good or bad to move to.
3) Part 1 of "The Rivals", continued.

Unit: Rumford or Cape? The Schools
Research: We will looking at the Maine Department of Education dashboard called ESSA in order to gather information about the high schools in Rumford and Cape Elizabeth.
1) Pair with the person siting next to you.
2) Go to the ESSA dashboard.
3) One of you go to Cape Elizabeth, the other Mountain Valley
4) Select one category and go to it.  
5) Take notes on what you find, highlighting differences.  Highlight similarities if you believe they will help you argue where you should live.
repeat for another category.
6) Prepare to present out you most important finding.

Future: In terms of the jobs that they do, what is more important: Doctors & lawyers or builders & construction workers?
