Understanding Early Civilizations
Last week, you were given a map of a portion of northern Maine and asked to pick a location for a settlement.  You were asked to explain why you picked the location you did, and to name the 10 most important things needed to create a successful settlement.  Today, we'll follow up by:
  • Define what's common among all rationals (we'll do this through a simple cold-call)
  • Define the 5 most important things needed to guarantee the success of your settlement (you'll determine this by receiving a list of ALL the rationals made by your classmates and your group picking the top 5 and defending why your selection is best in a short presentation)
Making Connections
From your list of 5 things needed to make your settlement successful, you will explain what each structure gives people that they need.

Graphic Organizer: Motivation
We'll be working to understand the term "Motivation."

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
We will be introducing Maslow's Hierarchy of needs and connecting them to the 5 structures of your settlement.
