Presentation Poster Activity
Target: Understand how to work effectively and present  in group.
By the End of the Activity: You will know how to brainstorm a list of ideas without evaluating them or commenting on them.
Challenge: Create a poster that explain the top three attributes of a successful presentation and the attributes a respectful audience.
Sequence:
1. Brainstorm a list of attributes of a successful presentation
2. Report on process
3. Brainstorm a list of attributes of a respectful audience
4. Determine how you will pick the top three attributes for each
5. Pick top three attributes of of a successful presentation
6. Pick top three attributes of of a respectful audience
7. Place top three of each on two pieces of paper.
8. Gallery walk to select top attributes.
9. HW Posters for cash

Castaway/Maslow's Activity
Target: Understand how the individual functions within, and without, a community.
By the End of the Activity: You will be able to explain how the movie Cast Away helps explain Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
Activity: At your table you will create a brief presentation that explains four parts of the movie when the main character Chuck Noland moves from one level of Maslow's to another.  These should be four separate scenes that either portray him moving up a level or moving down.  Your presentation will include an introduction, a description of Maslow's, four separate moves on the hierarchy and a conclusion.

Remembering 9/11
Target: Understand how communities are affected by events.
By the End of the Period: You will explain how events can affect communities.
We will be interviewing staff and asking them questions about what they remember about 9/11 and their thoughts about what's happened since.
Challenge: Create a presentation that explains how individual's perceptions of communities and civilizations are changed by events.
Activity: At your tables review your interview notes, then take turns sharing your interview with the group. Then put together a presentation that explains how individuals perceptions of their communities are changed.

Ernie's Ark
We'll be introducing a book about a community in Maine suffering through and economic disaster.
