Bioethics Unit
Learning Target: In this unit, I am measuring your ability to take information from a variety of sources to explain something and to support a position. Little targets: 1) MLA citations; 2) Clear thesis; 3) Use of specific evidence.
Questions to ponder:
1) If you could change anything about yourself that you think is part of your genetic makeup, what would it be? Why would you change it? Would there be any downside to changing it? Write and then circle to discuss answer.
2) If you had the opportunity to test your child for genetic defects, some of which you may have no control over fixing, would you do so? What's the best reason to do do? What's the best reason not to? Have students move.
3) If you had the opportunity to preselect certain genetic aspects of your unborn child (height, speed, hair color, etc., etc.), including eliminating genetic defects, would you do so? What's the best reason to do so? What's the best reason not to? Have students move.
Circle: What's your answer to number 1?
