Fall of Rome Learning Target: At the end of the unit you will be able to explain why the Roman Empire fell and whether similar things may be happening in the United States right now. Do we learn from our mistakes or does history keep repeating itself?
Clean Up Notes: Make sure that the reasons in your notes have a clear label that you can identify.
Why Did Rome Fall? At you table you will be getting more paragraphs about one of the many reasons Rome fell. Your table's job is to figure out what the reason is and write it in your own words. You will then be writing a claim, evidence warrant paragraph about your reason that led to the fall of Rome. These will be compiled for the next step in this activity.
Next Step: Using the following documents you will be determining if what happened in Rome is happening here in the United States. 1) We will be going through these one at a time and determining which historical moment in Rome they apply to. 2) Determining if what is currently happening now relates to what happened in Rome. 3) Is the source reputable, i.e. is it believable, trustworthy?
