What was your job shadow?

Reading Quiz: "How to Tell a True War Story"

Presentations Next Class for Career Project (15 mins)
Prepare for a presentation in which you describe your job shadow and what you have learned.
If you have completed your job shadow, you can talk about:
1) Where you went
2) What you did
3) What you liked about it
4) Why the job is important
5) What training the job needs
6) Other careers you thought about as a result of your job shadow
7) Other

If you have not completed your job shadow, you may use these prompts to present:
1) Talk about the most surprising thing in your budget
2) Talk about the best non-profit you saw at the fair
3) Explain what the purpose of a resume is and one way to create a resume
4) Talk about a career you might like to learn more about
5) Talk about the steps you need to take to get the job you want
All presentation should have some talking piece/visual

Unit: Should we go to war with ISIS? (1 hour)
First, quickly take notes on the spread of empires in the Middle East.

Geography
Question: What is the history of the geography of the Middle East that might help explain the current conflicts?
Resources: 
-Watch this Daily Show video on the mess with Syria, and this Daily Show video making fun of the British Empire and how it is the root of all the problems.
-This map of middle eastern languages

The Things They Carried (15 Minutes)
Learning target: After this exercise, you'll be able to find text from that book that exemplifies one of the categories of notice.
As a group, go through "How to Tell a True War Story" and list all the ways you can tell if something is a true war story. Then pick one of the stories we give you to determine if it is a true war story.
This list fits the category:
AHA MOMENT
When a character realizes, understands, or finally figures out something, STOP and ask yourself, “How might this change things?”
If it is about a problem, it tells you something about the conflict; if it is a life lesson, it tells you something about the theme.
