Activity: How do philosophies get turned into action?
Learning Target: At the end of class, you will be able to explain how OHCHS uses philosophy to determine practices and policies.
Directions: Last class we looked at the school's vision statement. Today, we'll figure out how the school turns that into action -- or doesn't.
  1. Create a tri-chart.  Label the first column "philosophy," the second column "positive action," and the third column "possible action."
  2. Place one element of the vision statement in the first column.
  3. In the second column, explain how the school help its student meet that goal.
  4. In the third column, explain how the school could better help students meet that goal.
  5. Repeat and share.
Activity: Bill of Rights and you.
Learning Target: At the end of this activity, you will be able to explain how how the Bill of Rights help guide the making of laws.

1) Question: During a school sponsored event off-campus, a student who did not go to school that day displayed a sign saying "Bong Hits For Jesus." How should the school punish him?  Discuss at your table and report out.

Learning Target: At the end of class, you will be able to explain your philosophy.

Directions: Pick three questions below that your are you can answer with certainty.  For each answer, give an example of when you employed that philosophy.
