1) Debrief: What did we do last class and why are we doing it.

3) Become an Expert: Pick one of the reasons Rome fell and research it so you can give examples/evidence and explain how that reason made Rome fall.

1. The first question is "who produced it?" - gender, age, ethnicity, social status, religion,
intellectual beliefs, etc.
2. The second question is "when was it produced?" Can it be connected with a
significant historical event?
3. The third question is "who was the intended audience?" – written privately, written to
be read/heard by others (who?), official document for a ruler to read, commissioned
painting, etc.
4. The fourth question, as any good detective knows, would be "why?" What is the
MOTIVATION of the writer/producer of the document, based on what you can surmise
about them?
