Circle: If you parents got a call saying you'd been arrested, but didn't say what for, what would they assume you'd been arrested for?

During: Move about the room. Check with two other people. On the back of the paper, transcribe one of their quotes that you don't already have written.

Read: We are going to read the story "On the Rainy River" both together and independently
Note: What are 3-4 quotes or passages that help us see the thoughts and decisions that soldiers–who have the MICRO PERSPECTIVE–have as they go to war?
After: Imagine you are Tim O’Brien at the end of this story. You decide to write a letter to the president to help him understand what it’s like to be a “grunt” deciding whether to go to war or not. You can have either perspective–go to war or don’t go to war–but you need the president to understand what he/she need to know before going.
