Circle: You're always interviewing for your next job -- who have you "interviewed" with that you would ask for a recommendation and what would they say about you?

Vocabulary Test: Globalization, protectionism, nationalism

Course Selections: Understanding the Junior English Courses
AP English: For students very interested in taking the most difficult classes, and/or likely applying to competitive schools and/or really want to improve writing.
UMA College Writing: For students heading to a four-year college and want to earn a credit ahead of time.
Survey in American Literature: For students who are unsure of their future but want to keep the door open for some post-secondary program.

Unit: Rumford or Cape -- Writing the essay
Today, we will be assembling/writing the essay for the unit.
1) Here's the rubric.
2) Essay must look like this.
3) How to make citations.
4) Introductions/conclusions: Review what you have.
5) Claim workshop: we will put on the board the four categories of claims (pro Cape, pro Rumford, anti Cape, anti Rumford) and brainstorm possible claims.
6) The importance of the counter claim.
7) The order of the essay.
8) Warrant reminder lesson: Says: explain the evidence; means: explain how the evidence relates and supports your claim; matters: explain how your evidence, along with the claim, supports your thesis.
9) Write.

Unit: Memoir, Biography, Autobiography
We will all be reading and finishing a Memoir, Biography, Autobiography this month.
