Circle: What do you like about what you are reading right now?

Unit: Philosophy -- Knights and Samurai
Learning TargetI can compare and contrast things doing research.
Today, we'll be writing the conclusion to your essay. Since the point of the essay is to compare the Knights and Samurai, your conclusion must explain your choice.
1) For the most part, your body paragraphs contain the "says" and "means" portion of your warranting.
2) In the conclusion, you will be highlighting the three comparisons you have made and writing the "matters" portion of the warrant.
3) What this means is that you will explain how the philosophy you prefer matters to you.  
4) If, within the philosophy you prefer, there is a aspect of that philosophy that you reject, you will still include that and explain what you don't like about it.
5) With this format, your conclusion will be three parts -- one for each paragraph.
6) If your body paragraphs all included "matters" statements, then your conclusion highlights the matters the matter the most, explaining again for the reader why you have made the choice you have made.


Unit: Economics -- Globalization Map
Learning target:  I can explain the role globalization plays in our capitalist economy.  Mainly where all my wants and needs come from.
1) At you table you will each search through you belongings to find out where the good was made.  This should include clothing, food, electronics, backpacks or anything else that has a label.
2) With your group you will then be marking on a world where each of these products are made in a Google map that one of you will make on your own.
3) Each item will have its own "pin" on the map. Label each pin with the name of the owner and the item.
4) After creating your map prepare a brief presentation about what and where things are produced at your table.  You should also try and note if their are any patterns you notice like are certain types of products made in one region of the world over another.
5) Explain how this activity helps explain the role globalization plays in your life.  
6) For the future...What is good and bad about globalization?
