Seating Chart

New Seating Chart and Activity. You will be designing, and building and flying a paper airplane with you new group.  1.  You will first do introductions and explain if you are an introvert or an extrovert.  2. You will come up with a plan to make sure that everyone is included in the building and designing of the plane.  3.  You will be asked how you made sure that everyone had a say in how the plane was designed and built.  Your plane will be judged on distance with the 1st, 2nd and 3 place are getting a prize!

Vocabulary Quiz: Dictatorship, Republic, Pax Romana, (lit) voice

Go to reading book when done.

Circle: A concert that you would want to see if possible?  Can be current or past band.

Circle: Something that interested you at college and career fair?

Career and College Fair Tuesday: Make sure people have passed in assignment.  

Video: Eight reasons Rome fell 

1. Create list of the 8 reasons

2. 6. At your table, think, share and be ready to report out any connections between what happened to Rome and what might be happening to the USA.  Use the questions from last class.  Pre-thinking on the Roman Empire/USA connection

3. Hand out first document on background.  What are the important dates?  Do you see any similarities to the situation in the USA?

4.Create timeline on board.

5. Pass out Doc A.  Who wrote it? When was it written? Who is the audience? Determine bias. Do they seem credible?

6. What is the evidence and how would it make you feel if it was happening in the USA and do you think it was a major reason Rome fell?  Write a paragraph in your document.  "One of the reasons that historians believe Rome fell was because of..."CEW.   Next paragraph-How would you feel if this was happening in the USA and do you believe it could lead do our downfall or not? Example: Military is getting fatter.

Shoes Part 2: follow the instructions in Classroom. Interview someone paired with your character. In your character's voice, tell the story about how the two characters, who are old friends, met. The story should also tell the story about why they are still friends. Focus on voice, characterization, setting, imagery, and mood.
