Learning Target: You will be able to apply the concept of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to the movie Cast Away and, possibly, your book.
1) Start a new notes packet: "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs"
2) Introduction: Write in your notes, something that you say someone do this weekend (legal). Share with the group, write in your notes.
2) Short lecture: Figuring out why people do stuff -- What is Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and how does it work?
3) Application: Use Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs to explain why your people did what they did.

Crazy Rome Activity:  We've all seen what it takes to keep up with the Kardashians and the crazy stuff you see on TMZ and YouTube but were people just as crazy or crazier in the Roman Empire.  Your task it to find some bizarre facts about Rome, its people and leaders and create a textual evidence paragraph that you will share with the class and talk about a comparable behavior today.

Activity: Using Textual Evidence in a Paragraph
Google, "Why did Rome fall."  Read one of the reasons that rome fell from a reliable source and then write one paragraph (the assignment is in Google Classroom) explaining why Rome fell.  Write the paragraph in claim, evidence warrant format).

In Future Classes:
Group Activity: Group Biography -- Your group will be submitting and essay entitled "Our Group with Mad Skills." You will interview the person to your right, asking them questions about something that they do particularly well. You will then compose a paragraph that will describe in detail the skill and what it is that they do well.

Future Activity:10 minute writing exercise: Group Writing -- Write an essay made of paragraphs the talk about times in your lives that you were at the different levels of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs OR Write an essay made of paragraphs that talk about what it means to be an Introvert, Extrovert, Judger or Perceiver.
