Post activity: Can you apply Malow's Hierarchy of Need to your book?

Cell Phone Policy Closure
-(Casey) "No one likes a tattle tail", Students and teachers alike will enforce our rules by asking politely for the phone to be put way. This rule applies to teachers that break the rules as well.
-(Seth)@2) Cell Phone use should only when you need to google something for the paper or packet you’re doing, and if you’re working on a group project together. Cell Phone’s should not be out and used when the teacher is talking, or the presentation board is on, or if you’re in circle. Only if you’re teachers allow you to.
-(Seth)@4) The consequences for using a cellphone when you’re not supposed to is not being allowed to use your cellphone for the class, after 2 warnings, three strikes you’re out. If this is continuing to do this, then you are not able to use your cell phone for that class until the teacher decides you are able to.
-(Jason) Question 1: We need to be able to have a controlled learning environment where we can receive the best education. We also need to be able to develop a policy for ourselves and control our own use of cell phones. We need to better ourselves with our own devices so we can use them appropriately throughout life.
-(Jason) Question 5: Students should be able to ask other students to put their phone away, and if that student doesn't comply after being asked several times, then the teacher can step in and follow the consequence policy we've developed.
-(Kylie)You may use your phone/electronic when...
You're done with an assignment
With the teacher's permission
During breaks and/or transmissions
When there is an emergency or you need to contact a parent/guardian

Circle: One thing that you are looking forward to in the future other than leaving this school.

Big Idea:
Review -- Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
At your table, prepare a quick presentation to explain Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs

Fall of Rome Learning Target: At the end of the unit you will be able to explain why the Roman Empire fell and whether similar things may be happening in the United States right now.

Do we learn from our mistakes or does history keep repeating itself?

WHY DID ROME FALL?: At you table you will be getting one paragraph about one of the many reasons Rome fell.  Your table's job is to figure out what the reason is and write it in your own words.  You will then be writing a claim, evidence warrant paragraph about your reason that led to the fall of Rome.  These will be compiled for the next step in this activity.

In Future Classes:
Group Activity: Group Biography -- Your group will be submitting and essay entitled "Our Group with Mad Skills." You will interview the person to your right, asking them questions about something that they do particularly well. You will then compose a paragraph that will describe in detail the skill and what it is that they do well.
