1) Turns and talk: list settings, characterizations and settings that contributed to the Hemingway's themes.

Today, you will learn how to examine how a character changes or solves a problem to determine the theme.

Your Task: write an essay in which you explain how the theme is developed in the short film  "The Present."

Introduce the idea of structuring your essay as follows:

     Part 1: Use one or more paragraphs to explain how symbols, setting or characterization develop the character as they are at the begining/ OR how they define the problem.

     Part 2: Use one or more paragraphs to explain how symbols, setting or characterization develop the character as they are at the end AFTER CHANGING/ OR how they solve the problem.

Presentations: At your tables, develop possible essay plans to present.

If Time

Stock Market Game: 

Learning Target:  I can explain how the stock market works and what stocks are.
We will be giving each group a company to research and either recommend to buy or not to buy. 
1) We give you a company: Caterpillar, Netflix, Coca Cola.

2) Silent research time -- read an article on the company.

3) Group preparation time: Each person will present a pro of con, one person will explain the conclusion.

Meyers-Briggs

Learning Target:  I can understand my personal preferences and the preferences of others and how that impacts relationships and my work.

Last week, we took on online version of the Meyers-Briggs personality test.  We will continue to use the results to helpful you understand your strengths and weaknesses.

1) Look up one aspect of your personality (we will show you how)
